A4 Access was established in 2013 when the Lifts, Elevators & Ramps (LER) division of Wright &
Filippis became a dedicated company focused exclusively on accessibility solutions.
Our story began in 1944, when Carl Wright, a skilled prosthetist, and Anthony Filippis Sr., who was
one of his young patients that lost both legs in a train accident at age 13, founded Wright & Filippis.
Together Carl and Anthony built a company rooted in empathy, innovation, and the belief that
everyone deserves the freedom to move independently. That partnership grew into one of Michigan’s
most respected names in mobility and accessibility. The Filippis family has proudly carried those
founding values forward for more than 80 years—adapting, innovating, and always putting people
first.
A4 Access was founded on a vision inspired by Anthony Filippis Sr., who personally understood the
challenges of home accessibility. Recognizing the need for better solutions, he established the LER
Department at Wright Filippis, which would later evolve into A4 Access. Today, A4 Access proudly
provides residential and commercial accessibility solutions including stairlifts, wheelchair lifts,
elevators, dumbwaiters, and material lifts — continuing Anthony’s legacy of independence and
mobility for all.
A4 Access remains family-owned and operated by the Filippis family, continuing a legacy of service,
integrity, and dedication to modern accessibility solutions for homes and businesses. Our success is
built on the expertise and loyalty of our long-term team, several of whom have been with A4 Access
for over 20 years. Their knowledge, craftsmanship, and commitment to safety have shaped the
company into the trusted, respected organization it is today. Together, we continue to expand our
capabilities and uphold the highest standards, helping people move safely, comfortably, and
confidently through every level of life.
